Govt Notifies Protocol to Amend India-New Zealand DTAA [Read Notification]

The Central Government today notified the protocol to amend the India-New Zealand Double taxation avoidance Agreement (DTAA) to  express commitment to work towards a comprehensive free trade agreement with a view to boost economic ties.

The protocol deletes Article 26 and inserts new provisions relating to exchange of information between the two countries.

It also inserts a new provision, Article 26A, which deals with the assistance in the collection of taxes.

As per the amended provisions, the Contracting States shall lend assistance to each other in the collection of revenue claims. The competent authorities of the Contracting States may by mutual agreement settle the mode of application of this Article.
