No further Extension to GSTR-1: Govt Confirmed

The last date for filing of return in FORM GSTR-1 is today. There has been no further extension of date for filing return in FORM GSTR-1, the Government confirmed today.

Earlier, a fake notification was circulated on the social networking sites stating that the due date for filing GSTR 1 is extended to January 15th.

“Taxpayers may note that there is a fake notification regarding an extension of the date being circulated on social media. No extension of the last date for filing of GSTR-1 has been given,” PIB confirmed.

“GST Taxpayers are advised to ignore the fake notification regarding the extension of the date being circulated on social media. 10th January 2018 continues to be the last date for filing of return in FORM GSTR-1 for different classes of taxpayers for the relevant periods,” the Ministry of Finance tweeted today.

So, the last date for filing GSTR1 expires today.  Any delay in filing the return would attract a late fee of Rs 100 per day (CGST/SGST each).

Earlier, Traders body CAIT, on Tuesday demanded an extension of the deadline for filing final sales returns under the GST regime till month end citing glitches on the GSTN portal.
