More than Two Crore E-Way Bills generated till date: Govt

In a span of 24 days, over 2 crore E-Way Bills were generated for the movement of goods, the Goods and Services Tax Network’s (GSTN) official twitter handle updated today.

According to the data revealed by the GSTN, on 24th January 2018, 13,14,596 E-Way Bills were generated. From 1st April 2018 to 24th April 2018, the system generated 2.1 Crore E-Way Bills.

The Government launched E Way Bill for the inter-State supply of goods from 1st April 2018 mandating the businesses to carry E way Bill while transporting goods having a worth more than 50000.

Electronic way Bill system was launched by the Government to track all the inter-State movement of goods worth above Rs 50000/-.

On the very first day, around 1,71,503 E-Way Bills were successfully generated on the portal from 00:00 hours till 17:00 hrs, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

As per the decision of the GST Council, e-way bill system will be introduced for intra-State movement of goods w.e.f. a date to be announced in a phased manner but not later than 01st June 2018.

Till now, e-Way Bill system for  Intra-State movement of goods has been rolled-out in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Further, e-Way Bill system for intra-State movement of goods would be implemented from 25th April 2018 in Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Puducherry.
