CBI files Chargesheet Against Seven Including Two Central Excise Officers for alleged Irregularities in framing & implementation of Excise Policy of GNCTD

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a chargesheet against seven accused including then Deputy Commissioner of Excise, then Assistant Commissioner of Excise, both of GNCTD, Delhi and five private persons before the Designated Court at Delhi in an on-going investigation of a case related to alleged irregularities in framing & implementation of the Excise Policy of GNCTD.

A case was registered on 17.08.2022 against Deputy Chief Minister, GNCTD of Delhi and others including then Commissioner (Excise), then Deputy Commissioner (Excise), then Assistant Commissioner (Excise), all of GNCTD, Delhi; 10 liquor licencees, their associates & unknown others on a reference from MHA(GOI) related to alleged irregularities in framing &  implementation of the excise policy of GNCTD, Delhi.  It was further alleged that irregularities were committed including in modifications in Excise Policy, extending undue favours to the licencees, waiver/reduction in licence fee, extension of L-1 license without approval etc.  It was also alleged that Illegal gains on count of these acts were diverted to concerned public servants by private parties by making false entries in their books of accounts.

Searches were earlier conducted at premises of the accused in various locations which led to recovery of incriminating documents/articles, digital records etc.

Further investigation is continuing to investigate the role of FIR named accused and other persons on various allegations including conspiracies with other licensees,  money trails, cartelization and larger conspiracies in the formulation & implementation of the Excise Policy.
