This move comes after Rahul Navin’s role as the acting Director of the ED, a position he took over in 2023 following the departure of Sanjay Kumar Mishra, an IRS officer from the 1984 batch. During his time as acting Director, Navin has been involved in various significant investigations and has gained a reputation for his work in financial enforcement.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions’ Department of Personnel & Training released an official order confirming his appointment.

It is expected that Navin’s leadership will be crucial in steering the ED through its ongoing and future challenges, particularly in the areas of financial crimes and money laundering investigations.
Navin’s experience and previous roles within the ED are expected to play a pivotal role in continuing the agency’s efforts to enforce economic laws and prevent financial crime in India. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the government to ensure continuity and stability within the ED during a critical period.
