DGFT notifies Amendment in Export Policy of Basmati & Non-Basmati Rice [Read Notification]

The Director-General of Foreign Trade proposed the amendment in the Export Policy of Basmati and Non-Basmati Rice.

Presently, the export policy of the Non-Basmati Rice and Basmati Rice is ‘free’, however, the DGFT proposed two amended policy conditions.

Firstly, export to EU Member States and European countries namely Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland is permitted subject to issuance of Certificate of Inspection by Export Inspection Council / Export Inspection Agency’.

Secondly, Certificate of Inspection by Export Inspection Council/ Export Inspections Agency shall be mandatory for export to remaining European countries with effect from 1st July, 2021.

As per the notification, the export of Basmati and Non-Basmati Rice to EU member states and other European Countries namely Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland only will require a Certificate of Inspection from EIA/EIC.

However, export to remaining European countries except Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland will require a Certificate of Inspection by Export Inspection Council / Export Inspection Agency for export from 1st July, 2021.
