A bribery scandal has shaken Faridabad, with a Goods and Services Tax ( GST )  inspector reportedly fleeing after allegedly accepting a bribe and narrowly escaping arrest by the Anti Corruption Bureau.

The incident began when Surendra Kumar, a resident of Palwal Janauli, applied for a GST number to obtain Goods and Services Tax Registration for his business ventures. Following his application, Inspector Suresh Kumar Meena from the NIT 4 GST office contacted him.

During their interaction, Inspector Meena allegedly suggested that Surendra Kumar could expedite his GST number issuance by paying Rs 10,000. He hinted that refusing this demand could complicate the GST process significantly. Suspecting foul play, Surendra Kumar promptly alerted the Anti Corruption Bureau, leading to a sting operation orchestrated by Inspector Mukesh Giri’s team to nab the corrupt inspector.

As part of the operation, Surendra Kumar was provided with a marked bundle of Rs 10,000. His role was to engage the inspector in conversation while the Anti Corruption Bureau team prepared to make the arrest.

However, a momentary lapse allowed the inspector to escape suspicion and flee the scene. Despite the delay in the team’s arrival, a case has been filed against the rogue GST inspector based on recorded evidence.

The Anti Corruption Bureau has launched a comprehensive investigation to locate and apprehend the absconding inspector.
