Government allows Export of all varieties of Onions with effect from 1 January, 2021 [Read Notification]

The director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) allowed the export of all varieties of onions with effect from 1 January, 2021.

The DGFT in exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 notified the amendment in Notification No. 31/2015-20 dated November 14, 2020 amending the Export Policy of Onion for the item description at Serial Number 51 and 52 of Chapter 7 of Schedule 2 of ITC (HS) Classification of Export & Import Items.

Now, the government has revised the export policy from ‘prohibited’ to ‘free on onion of all varieties except Bangalore Rose onions and Krishnapuram onions excluding cut, sliced or broken in powder form.

Further, the DGFT has revised the export policy from ‘prohibited’ to ‘free on Bangalore Rose onions and Krishnapuram onions excluding cut, sliced or broken in powder form.

The Export of all varieties of Onions, as described above, has been made “Free” with effect from January 1, 2021.
