In a significant move for Chartered Accountant ( CA ) members, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has announced an extension for the submission of the Multipurpose Empanelment Form ( MEF ) for the financial year 2024-25. The new deadline has been moved from October 7, 2024, to October 21, 2024.
This decision, announced by the Professional Development Committee ( PDC ) on October 3, 2024, comes in light of the recent extension of the tax audit filing period.
The extension aims to provide members with sufficient time to complete the MEF process following the tax audit season. ICAI has emphasised that this is the final extension, as the PDC must submit the Branch Auditors’ Panel to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) within a stipulated time frame.
