The Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) was invited for the 40th Year Anniversary of its formation. The tribunal is nearing its half decade. The official announcement was made on the website.

Justice Dilip Gupta, the president of CESTAT has been invited to attend the 40 years of the Tribunal. The Inaugural function is scheduled on March 18th 2023, Saturday. The venue is fixed at ‘S’ block Auditorium, Delhi High Court.

Both Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Judge of the Delhi High Court, and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, a judge of the Supreme Court of India, have been invited as the program’s Chief Guests.

The President of CESTAT, Judge Dilip Gupta, delivers an address to open the inaugural session at 10 a.m. Also, the chief guests’ time is from 10:30 to 11:00. From 10:35 to 10:45 a.m., the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court will convey the speech and the rest will shared with the  Supreme Court Judge

After the Inaugural Session, the afternoon is divided into 3 sessions.

  1. SESSION I (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.): Use of technology in tribunal for speedy delivery of justice.
  2. SESSION II (2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.): Experiments of Tribunals – Triumphs and Tribulations.
  3. SESSION III (4.0 p.m. To 4:30 p.m.): Sum up and Vote of Thanks

The CESTAT was formerly known as Customs, Excise & Gold (Control) Appellate Tribunal was constituted on 11 th October 1982. In order to comply with Article 323(B) of the Indian Constitution, measures were made in the Customs Act of 1962 that established the Appellate Tribunal.

The President is in charge of CESTAT’s headquarters in New Delhi. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, and Hyderabad are the regional locations where the Tribunal has benches.
