Tamil Nadu Trade Bodies requests CM to form GST High Level Advisory Committee

Tamil Nadu Trade Bodies - CM - form GST High Level Advisory Committee - Taxscan

The establishment of an Advisory committee at the state level to state the concerns before the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has been requested by trade organisations to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

An apex member body known as the GST Council is responsible for modifying, resolving, or obtaining any rule or regulation depending on the context of the goods and services tax in India. Nirmala Sitharaman, the union finance minister, is the head of the council.

In order to discuss and make decisions about the issues to be brought before the GST Council, S Rethinavelu, founder and president of the Agro Food Chamber of Trade and Industry requested the CM to form a ‘GST High Level Advisory Group’ under the leadership of the finance minister with members of trade and industry.

The 10,500 crore granted for food subsidies under the Public Distribution System (PDS) was supported by the trade association.

S. Rethinavelu claimed that because of the complex and challenging implementation of GST, they are unable to express their grievances.

Further he stated that the Budget will show a strong growth trend along with Tamil Nadu’s balanced growth. For the sake of everyone’s health, the Agro Food Chamber insists that all children receive meals made from millet for breakfast or lunch. Also, this will boost farmers’ and food processors’ profits.

The decrease in the state’s income shortfall was welcomed by the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association Limited since it reflected the state’s progress in all areas of development. Yet, there has been no Samadhan Scheme announcement, which is disappointing.

Till now there is no advisory committee formed by the state government to discuss the issues that would be placed before the GST Council. According to the trade association, an advisory committee including their representative under the head of the Finance Minister of the state is a must.
