CBEC releases FAQs on Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises [Read FAQs]

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) today released a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).

It said that an agriculturalist to the extent of supply of produce out of cultivation of land, is not liable to obtain registration under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act.

For persons who have not taken registration under GST, it said that he should register with the GSTN portal at the earliest and obtain Application Reference Number (ARN). They need not disrupt their business and may continue to make supplies on invoices without GSTIN.

It further clarified that a person who opted to pay tax under composition scheme cannot make exports or supply goods to Special Economic Zones (SEZ).
