The taxpayers in Tamil Nadu State have been divided by the Centre and State Governments under the new Goods and Services Tax regime.
As per the order issued by the Principal Chief Commissioner, Central Excise and GST, Chennai, on Wednesday, around 94,184 taxpayers would come within the jurisdiction of the Central Government whereas a total number of 4,95,567 taxpayers would be monitored by the State Government.
As per the guidelines issued by the Central government, ninety percent of the Taxpayers below turnover of 1.5 Crore shall be under the administrative control of the State under the new tax regime. Remaining 10 percent shall be controlled by the Central Government. Also, Taxpayers above the threshold of 1.5 crores shall be equally divided among the Centre and States.
