The Central Government today notified income tax relief to FIFA under-17 Football World Cup which will run from October 6 to 28.
As per section 10(39) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, Government can exempt specified income arising from any international sporting event in India.
As per the Notification, the Government exempted FIFA under-17 as the international sporting event, FIFA as the person, and the specified income arising to both event and the Association from the income tax net.
Earlier, the central government has exempted import duty on sports items and a wide range of goods for the upcoming Under-17 football World Cup India.
