Govt Extends Due Date for Filing GSTR-2 and GSTR-3

In a major relief to the tax payers, the Central Government, today extended the due date for filing GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 for the month July to November 30th and 11th December respectively.

The Finance Ministry clarified the same through its official twitter account today.

“Last date for filing of GSTR-2 for the month of July, 2017 extended to 30th November, 2017, for facilitation of businesses and all taxpayers. Last date for filing of GSTR-3 for the month of July, 2017 also stands extended to 11th December, 2017 (deadline was 10th November, 2017). A Notification in this regard is being issued shortly – to facilitate about 30.81 lakh taxpayers for filing GSTR-2 for month of July, 2017.,” the Ministry said.

GSTR-3 is a monthly return with the summarized details of sales, purchases, sales during the month along with the amount of GST liability. This return is auto-generated pulling information from GSTR-1 and GSTR-2.

A Notification in this regard is being issued very shortly. This will facilitate about 30.81 lakh taxpayers for filing GSTR-2 for the month of July, 2017.
