ICAI removes Chartered Accountant for Professional Misconduct [Read Notification]

The institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has removed a Chartered Accountant, Ishaq Esmail Lakkadghat finding him guilty for professional misconduct as per Clause (7) of Part I of the Second Schedule to the by the Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Act, 2006.

This is as per the order of the Disciplinary Committee wherein it was ordered for removal of the name of aforesaid CA for a period of one year.

A notification issued by the ICAI in this regard said that “it is hereby notified that the name of said CA. Ishaq Esmail Lakkadghat (Membership No. 120260), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a period of one (01) year with effect from 15th June, 2018.

Recently, ICAI, the regulatory body of Chartered Accountants in India is taking stringent actions against the errant CAs. From 2007 till 10th April, 2017, 3409 cases had been lodged against the Chartered Accountants. Out of these, 577 cases were referred to Disciplinary Committee and in 122 cases, punishment has been awarded to the members by the Disciplinary Committee.
