ICAI asks Govt to host GST AAR Rulings in one Website [Read Letter]

ICAI - Chartered Accountants

The apex body of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has wrote a letter to Finance Minister Piyush Goyal asking to host all the Advance Authority rulings under GST laws in one website.

“The Authority for Advance Rulings constituted under GST laws have been delivering its judgment regularly on the various cases. Presently there is no mechanism for viewing all such judgments from any one source. These judgments are very important and information of the same will be helpful for the trade and industry in avoiding litigation. Accordingly, it is requested that all such judgment may be hosted on the website of GST Council or any their website as may be appreciated,” the letter reads.

GST law provides for the establishment of Authority for Advance Ruling (AAR) in all States with a view to providing certainty and transparency to a taxpayer with respect to an issue which may potentially cause a dispute with the tax administration.

AARs were established in States after six months of GST rollout and have been giving some important and controversial rulings since March.
