The Income Tax Department has introduced a new feature called “Request for Order Giving Effect” on its e-Filing portal. This online tool allows taxpayers to ask the department to implement an order that has already been issued but not yet acted upon. The move is expected to save time and reduce paperwork for both taxpayers and officials.
Many taxpayers often find themselves waiting for the Income Tax Department to process orders issued by various authorities such as the Commissioner of Income Tax ( Appeals ), the National Faceless Appeal Centre (NFAC), the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), or even higher courts like the High Court and Supreme Court. In the past, taxpayers had to physically follow up with their local Assessing Officer (AO) to get these orders finalized. This new feature aims to eliminate those delays by allowing taxpayers to request an update directly through the portal.
1. Log In: Go to the Income Tax e-Filing portal and log in with your credentials.
2. Select Services: From the main menu, choose “Services.”
3. Choose ‘Request for Order Giving Effect’: Click on this option to start a new request.
4. Enter Details: Provide the necessary information, such as the assessment year and the relevant authority that issued the order.
5. Submit: Confirm your details and submit the form online.
