431st ICAI Council Meeting: Key HIghlights

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has taken significant strides towards excellence, as revealed in the decisions made during its 431st Council Meeting held on April 25th and 26th, 2024.

Policy Document on Centre of Excellence (CoE)

A pivotal announcement includes the approval of a comprehensive policy document outlining the vision, mission, and strategic goals for ICAI's Centre of Excellence (CoE). This initiative aims to drive research, innovation, and learning within the accounting profession while establishing ICAI as a global thought leader. The CoE policy encompasses plans for research facilitation, advanced learning, stakeholder engagement, and talent cultivation. Currently, ICAI operates two CoEs in Hyderabad and Jaipur, with plans to establish nine more across India in the next three years.

CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI, stated that, Our Council's decisions reflect our steadfast commitment to excellence and innovation. The CoE policy marks a significant step towards fostering research, innovation, and learning to shape the future of our profession.

National Network Expansion

In a move to enhance its national presence, ICAI approved the establishment of a new branch under the Central India Regional Council ( CIRC ) in Tonk District, Rajasthan. This new branch adds to ICAI's extensive network, which now includes 176 branches across India. Additionally, the Aurangabad Branch of WIRC has been renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch following the Central Government's name change for Aurangabad.

CA Run for Viksit Bharat

As part of its contribution to nation-building, ICAI is organizing a mega CA run on June 30 under the theme "Viksit Bharat." This event commemorates 75 years of ICAI's impactful journey and aligns with the vision of developing India by 2047, as championed by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The run aims to unite members from all regional councils, branches, chapters, study circles, and foreign chapters towards the goal of a developed India.
