AICPA & CIMA, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, has announced the expansion of its successful mentoring program, aimed at nurturing the development of future accounting and finance professionals. With the recent inclusion of Africa, Canada, and Europe, the program now offers a global platform for mentorship connections.

The expanded initiative enables mentees to form mentoring relationships on a global scale. According to the announcement, mentees will have the opportunity to be paired with mentors located anywhere in the UK, Europe, Africa, and Canada. Together, mentor-mentee pairs will collaboratively determine the frequency and mode of their interactions, whether through in-person meetings, videoconferencing, or email exchanges.

Initially launched in the UK in 2022, the mentoring program was exclusive to CIMA members and individuals who had successfully completed the CGMA case-study exams. The recent expansion, as outlined in the release, is expected to broaden access to valuable learning experiences from seasoned professionals, fostering the development of knowledge, networks, skills, and confidence essential for success in the accounting and finance industry.

Sharing his experience, Patrick Guest, ACMA, CGMA, a finance manager and mentee at The LEGO Group, expressed the program’s significant benefits. “I found the program to be really beneficial, giving me an independent voice to bounce ideas off and talk through problems. This has helped me to be better prepared for difficult conversations and pressure situations and be clearer about my values in and out of work,” stated Guest in the news release.

Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive–Management Accounting at AICPA & CIMA, emphasized the importance of the initiative in supporting the success of emerging professionals by leveraging the knowledge of experienced members. “I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for all professionals to have the opportunity to seek advice from experienced mentors,” said Harding. “Our program will mean that these career-enhancing opportunities are available to more of our members, and the mentoring relationships can now cross borders.” This expansion underscores the commitment of AICPA & CIMA to providing enhanced mentorship resources on a global scale.
