Algeria waives Customs Duties and VAT on Pharmaceutical Products

Algeria has temporarily suspended the imposition of customs duties and Value-Added Tax(VAT) on the imports of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment to combat the fast-spreading novel coronavirus.

The government would approximately spend $100 million on the medical products being imported from China.

Algeria as of 29th April 2020, has reported 3,848 COVID-19 cases with 444 deaths and 1,702 recoveries.

Algeria has eased the lockdown for the holy month of Ramadan by shortening the curfew and lifting full lockdown in a province near the capital Algiers to reduce the economic and social impact.

The country is facing a huge social and economic crisis as the oil prices continue to collapse.
