Allahabad HC Bar Strikes over Judge's Insulting Remarks, Boycotts Work

The Allahabad High Court bar association has announced strike today due to the insulting remarks of the Judges on the lawyers. The Bar has decided to boycott the work today. It was conveyed through a letter to the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

The Bar has addressed its dissatisfaction with the administration of the High court and some judges. It has pointed out each issue in the letter. The following were raised :

1. Concerns Raised Over Hon'ble Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal's Court Conduct in Court No. 69"
2. Behavior of some Hon'ble Judges towards the Lawyers and BAR are also not proper rather insulting.
3. Many Hon'ble Judges do not follow the very old tradition of this Hon'ble High Court to revise the list of Fresh cases or of unlisted cases as the case may be.
4. Changing the process of filing and reporting by Hon'ble Judges by passing judicial orders without getting it amended in the High Court Rules and contrary to the Rules.
5. It is also brought on record that Bar has requested the Registry to provide the Data of Advocate Roll Numbers. This request along with other requests are denied by the written order circulated by the Registry.

The bar has provided its explanation for each of these issues. The Bar decided to abstain from the judicial work on 10th July 2024 i.e., today. For further action, it was informed that the Executive Committee of HBA will again meet at 05:00 pm on July 10. The bar also clarified that the member of the advocate act contrary to the resolution passed by the bar will be canceled after giving him an opportunity by issuing a show cause notice.
