The Goods and Services Tax Network ( GSTN ) has introduced a biometric-based Aadhaar authentication and document verification process for GST registration applicants in Rajasthan, effective from January 7, 2025. This initiative is part of amendments to Rule 8 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017, for enhanced security and stopping abuse of the registration process for obtaining fake registrations.
Applicants will undergo biometric Aadhaar authentication and have their photographs taken.
Verification of the original copies of documents uploaded during registration is also mandated.
Implementation in Rajasthan – This new functionality has been rolled out in Rajasthan as a pilot initiative, with further expansion likely in the future.
