According to a report, the Goods and Service Tax (GST) team discovered that a late businessman had been operating for 11 months. It was discovered that the late businessman's company had purchased 11.73 lakhs from him through 13 E-way bills in Partaval, Maharajganj.
According to a GST official, conducting business in a deceased person's name is an economic infraction along with another businessperson. Further if thousands of rupees were purchased and sold from another merchant using the company's name. The company can decline in exchange while collecting that sum from the deceased. Following this, the issue can involve forgery and fraud.
The owner of the firm, Shamshul Haque, was identified on the shop's registration when it was examined on Monday under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner. It was learnt that the owner passed away in March 2022, however the family declined to take legal action.
The account number, name of the proprietor, name of firm ..etc has not changed and even it continued to conduct the business on the same details. In addition to Gorakhpur, the company has placed bulk orders for clothing with vendors in Lucknow and Kanpur.
The Goods and Services Tax SIB team had learnt that a garment store in Paratawal, Maharajganj, was engaged in extensive tax evasion. The GST team has been gathering information at the aforementioned shop throughout holidays and other events during the past six months.
While investigating, another establishment was also discovered at the same location at the same time in the name of the wife of the deceased businessman. The wife is also not alive. No tangible proof of stock being maintained in the shop alongside the sale was found over the course of the examination at this company. This business has been assessed a Rs 5 lakh fine by the GST. The team has taken necessary actions as per the rules.
