CA Exam 2020 can’t be postponed and would be conducted as per schedule in November 2020, says ICAI

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) President said that it is not possible to postpone the November 2020 exams.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the students have demanded postponement of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) CA exams. The ICAI is set to conduct the November session of exams through offline mode.

Consequently many students had appealed to BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Subramanian Swamy seeking his help to get the CA Exams 2020 postponed.

In order to help the students, the Minister had spoken to the President of ICAI regarding the postponement of the exam. The ICAI President has informed him that it is not possible to postpone the exams.

“I spoke to the President of ICAI today on the possibility of postponing the CA examination. He explained that an Examination Committee of eminent persons had taken the decision and he saw no way how he can intervene in the Committee decision. Hence I can take this no further,” Subramanian Swamy tweeted.

Meanwhile, ICAI has also responded to individual students’ queries related to the issue of mark sheet, articleship, CA exams, backlog exams, and so on. Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai has shared the series of replies given by ICAI in her tweet. 

“The Chartered Accountant exams would be conducted on 207 cities across the country and in 5 cities abroad. The Examination would begin on November 1 and would end on November 18, 2020. CA exam would be conducted in single-shift for all days- from 2 pm to 5 pm. The foundation paper for 3 and 4 will be conducted from 2 pm to 4 pm,” the ICAI clarified.

The ICAI further said that ICAI has decided to open additional examination centers across the country of CA Exam 2020. The decision to open more examination centers was taken considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in the interest of the well – being of students & members who will appear for CA examination. The Institute has also issued an important notice for Bihar candidates appearing for the exams amid Bihar elections.
