Vi has invited applications for the post of Manager-Indirect Tax.

The role requires to support the Indirect tax vertical head on providing tax advisory, manage various indirect tax investigations, litigation and facilitate closure of the same, building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, legal counsels and tax consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS

         •CA/LL.B or both

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Indirect taxes such as GST, Service Tax, VAT, Entry tax, Local Body taxes in any Big 4, law firm or large company
  • Thinks laterally and creatively, anticipates developments, proposes innovation
  • Potential to arrive at sound judgement to solve problems
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills
  • A self-starter, able to use own initiative, spot opportunities, and drive tax efficient business decisions

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Enquiries/Summons/Investigations:

At present managing substantially whole (in terms of count) of the non – litigation and pre – litigation enquires/summons/investigations/GST Audits

1.      Independently deal with Circles/SSC/Business F&A

2.      Guide the respective teams for preparing appropriate submissions. Ensuring that the submissions are in the interest of both the tax authority and the organization

3.      Guide the respective teams for Liaising with tax authorities

4.      Review the submissions before the same is submitted with the departments

5.      Guide the teams to prepare draft responses/replies

6.      Review/validate/modify the drafts

7.      Independently draft the replies/responses involving technical aspects

8.      Closely manage the pre-litigation enquiries/summons/investigations

9.      Held discussion with all the relevant teams before making any submission to department for audits

10.   Highlight any concerns or unfavorable impact of any submission to seniors. Any discrepancies noticed or improvement/modification required in internal processes to be highlighted to seniors. Design the plan and implement accordingly

11.   Identify cases which may have PAN India implications and design the way forward/seek advisory

II.    Advisory:

1.      Resolving day to day queries of various stake holders

2.      Advisory to questions raised by internal stake holders on GST matters. Deal with consultants wherever required

3.      Preparing and implementing process notes wherever required

·        Preparing draft replies/responses with technical/legal points.

·        Guiding circles/SSC for preparation of submissions and liaising with department.

III.    Litigation:

1.      Independently draft and ensure filing of appeals in case of regulatory refunds

2.      Drafting of other SCN/Appeals in-house

3.      Interacting, explaining the facts and coordinating with consultants/ seniors for preparing any writs/SCN/Appeals as and when required

4.      Attend virtual hearings where required.

IV.   Review of processes from compliance & internal control perspective:

1.      Keeping close watch on the outward process in order to determine areas of improvement

2.      Highlight areas of low, moderate & high risk from tax exposure perspective

3.      Work towards driving new process implementation or its improvisation

4.      Strategize in consultation with seniors and consultants to lower risk of processes which are identified as moderate and high

5.      Keep track of legal update impacting our business and preparing plan and process for it’s implementation
