CA’s Rs 6.72 Lakh lost via Debit and Credit Cards as Wallet forgotten at Mumbai Cross Maidan Cricket Ground

A chartered accountant lost Rs. 6.72 lakh after carelessly leaving his wallet unattended at Mumbai’s Cross Maidan Cricket ground. The incident, which occurred on March 30 during a cricket game, saw the accountant’s credit and debit cards stolen from his unguarded belongings.

Upon returning home, the accountant received bank transaction alerts on his phone, revealing unauthorized withdrawals and luxury purchases totaling over Rs. 6 lakh. Investigations disclosed that within the span of the cricket session, the thief(s) managed to withdraw Rs. 1 lakh from an ATM and splurge Rs. 5 lakhs on extravagant items from various jewellery stores across the city.

The CA reached out to one of the jewellery stores where his card was used, obtaining CCTV footage of the suspect(s) from the shop owner. However, no one couldn’t trace the culprit, reported the PTI.  The investigation is under process.
