CBDT appoints IRS Officer Sanjay Kumar as New Audit and Judicial Member
The previous designation of Member (Income Tax and Revenue) will be revised to Member (Income Tax), while the title of Member (Taxpayer Services) will be updated to Member (Taxpayer Services and Revenue)

Indian Revenue Service ( IRS ) officer Sanjay Kumar has been appointed as a Member ( Audit and Judicial ) in the Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT ), along with supervision over Pr. DGIT (L & R) and Zonal Charge of Central Zone ( Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP & Chhattisgarh ) with immediate effect. The official order confirming his appointment was issued recently.
Hailing from the 1988 batch of the Indian Revenue Service, Mr. Kumar brings a wealth of experience from the Income Tax cadre to his new role. As per the order issued on Thursday, he assumes the crucial responsibility of Member ( Audit and Judicial ), emphasising the importance of his expertise in these areas.
The CBDT, which serves as the apex body for policy formulation and administration of direct tax laws in India, is chaired by a designated chairperson. The Board is structured to accommodate a maximum of six members, all holding the rank of special secretary. With Mr. Kumar's appointment, the Board has reached its full complement of members, highlighting the completion of its leadership team.

The remaining Member positions within the CBDT include Systems and Faceless Schemes, Administration, and Legislation.
