CBI arrests Central GST Superintendent for Rs. 10k Bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI ) has apprehended a Superintendent from the Central Goods and Service Tax ( CGST ) Division in Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. The arrest came as the officer was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a complainant.

The CBI initiated action based on a complaint against the accused Superintendent. The complaint detailed the officer’s demand for a bribe amounting to Rs. 15,000 for the reactivation of a suspended GSTIN belonging to the complainant’s wife’s firm. Subsequently, the bribe amount was negotiated down to Rs. 10,000.

Acting promptly, the CBI set up a trap and successfully apprehended the accused while accepting the bribe of Rs. 10,000. The investigative agency is committed to combating corruption at all levels.

In connection with the case, the CBI conducted searches at the accused officer’s premises in Rudrapur ( District Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand ) and Ambala ( Haryana ). The search operation yielded valuable evidence, including documents found in two lockers, bank account details, and various incriminating documents.
