The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two Income Tax Officials in relation to bribe allegations. The CBI team from Shillong conducted an operation at the Income Tax Office on Circuit House Road in Silchar on Friday, and arrested the two officials for accepting a bribe.
According to sources, the operation was undertaken by the team from CBI on Friday evening, arresting two officials, including a woman, while accepting a bribe from a person.
The team interrogated the officials for hours at their office before taking them to Shillong, sources said.

The CBI has not disclosed any details about the arrested officials. While the specific reasons for their detention have not been revealed, it is understood that the raid was part of an ongoing investigation.
This action is part of a series of ongoing high-profile operations by the CBI in Assam, including the recent arrests of senior officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway). On Nov 20, the CBI also initiated a search at the residence of a suspect in an ongoing investigation into an online trading scam in Assam.
