CBIC: Chandra Prakash Goyal and Prachi Saroop Appointed as Principal Chief Commissioners [Read Notification]

Through this notification, the Ministry of Finance promoted Chandra Prakash Goyal and Prachi Saroop as Principal Chief Commissioners in CBIC

The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, has issued Office Order No. 56/2025 dated 25th March 2025, announcing the promotion and empanelment of two senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to the prestigious post of Principal Chief Commissioner / Principal Director General in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC).

The notification states that the President of India is pleased to promote the following officers to the Apex Scale (Level 17 of the Pay Matrix) for the panel year 2025:

  • Shri Chandra Prakash Goyal, IRS (C&IT:1986), born on 10.07.1965
  • Ms. Prachi Saroop, IRS (C&IT:1986), born on 25.07.1968

The promotions will be effective from the date of assumption of charge, but not earlier than April 1, 2025, and will continue until further orders. The posting of these officers to regular positions will be decided in due course, with the approval of the Competent Authority. Until such time, both officers are directed to assume charge of their promoted positions on an in-situ (as-is-where-is) basis.

The CBIC has directed all concerned departments to ensure compliance, and a report confirming the officers’ assumption of charge is to be submitted to the Board and the Principal ADG (HRM-II), DGHRD immediately.

The order has been circulated to senior officials across the Ministry, including the Finance Minister’s office, the Revenue Secretary, the Chairman of CBIC, and all Principal Chief Commissioners and Directors General under CBIC. The Directorate of Systems has also been directed to publish the order on the CBIC’s official website.
