The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) actively engaged in the Special Campaign on Disposal of Pending Matters (SCPDM) from November 2022 to August 2023. This campaign had a specific emphasis on addressing VIP references and public grievances.

During this period, a total of 80 VIP references, 11,284 public grievances, and over 2,082 appeals related to public grievances were successfully resolved. Additionally, CBIC organized a nationwide cleanliness initiative in all of its field offices, with 195 outdoor campaigns conducted to date.

Throughout the campaign duration, approximately 100,000 files underwent examination, resulting in the removal of approximately 86,000 files. Over the past year, CBIC has significantly shifted to an electronic office environment, leading to a substantial reduction in the volume of physical files, which has now been minimised.

Another key area of attention was the removal of outdated or unused office equipment and scrap materials, which resulted in the release of extra space. Over the campaign period spanning from November 2022 to August 2023, approximately 9,909 square feet of space was reclaimed by eliminating unused materials and scrap. The newly available space was subsequently utilized for productive purposes.

To further accelerate these efforts, in alignment with the government’s priorities, CBIC will embark on Special Campaign 3.0, scheduled from October 2nd to October 31st, 2023, with the goal of institutionalising cleanliness and reducing the backlog of identified tasks.

CBIC, in collaboration with its regional offices nationwide, will work diligently to resolve the specified references and issues within the campaign period of October 2nd to October 31st, 2023. CBIC remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring cleanliness and improving the upkeep of public spaces under its jurisdiction.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has also reported that, within the period from December 2022 to July 2023, it successfully addressed over 46,000 public complaints and resolved 7,000 appeals as part of Special Campaign 2.0 for Swachhata.
