The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) has announced an extension of the due date for filing GSTR-3B for the month of October 2024 in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. This decision comes in light of the upcoming legislative assembly elections scheduled on November 20, 2024, which coincides with the original GSTR-3B deadline.
The polling day is expected to make it difficult for taxpayers in these states to fulfil their GST compliance obligations while also exercising their right to vote. Acknowledging this, the government, with the approval of the GST Implementation Committee ( GIC ), decided to provide relief by extending the due date.
