The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) has levied an anti-dumping duty of $389 per metric ton on imports of "Sulphur Black," a chemical product categorised under tariff items 3204 11 96, 3204 12 18, 3204 19 11, 3204 19 25, 3204 19 58, 3204 19 64, 3204 19 67, 3204 19 79, and 3204 90 00 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.
This designated authority concluded that Sulphur Black, originating from or exported from China, has been sold in India at prices below normal value, leading to dumping.

The authority's investigation identified that such dumping has caused material injury to the Indian domestic industry. Specifically, the landed price of the imports was found to be lower than the selling price of the domestic industry, effectively undercutting local prices and harming local producers.
In accordance with the powers granted under sub-sections (1) and (5) of section 9A of the Customs Tariff Act, along with the applicable rules, the government has mandated this anti-dumping duty to rectify the injury inflicted on the domestic industry by these unfair trade practices. The duty will apply to imports of Sulphur Black, with the details of the duty specified in the corresponding entries of the official notification.
