About Jalna Port
Jalna, in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, is becoming an important center for trade and transport. It is not a seaport, but a dry port, which means it is an inland facility where goods can be stored, cleared by customs, and moved to and from seaports by road or rail.
Jalna is located near the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and major transport routes, making it a good location for moving goods across the country.
With the new government notification, Jalna is now officially allowed to:
- Unload imported goods
- Load goods meant for export
- Handle any other types of goods for customs processing
This is a big step forward for businesses in and around Jalna. They will no longer need to send their goods to faraway ports like Mumbai or JNPT for customs work, which will save them time and money.

The Jalna dry port is expected to help industries in nearby areas like Aurangabad and Nashik, by making trade easier and faster. With this customs approval, Jalna is set to become an important inland trade center for central and western India.
