Central Govt allows Additional 10,000 MT Onion Export to UAE via NCEL [Read Notification]

The Central Government has granted permission for the export of an additional 10,000 metric tonnes (MT) of onions to the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) through the National Cooperative Exports Limited ( NCEL ). This decision, communicated via Notification No. 02/2023 dated April 03, 2024, by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ), supplements the existing export quota established under DGFT Notification No. 65/2023 dated March 01, 2024.

The notification stated that “In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992), as amended, read with Para 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 and in accordance with the provision contained in Para 2 of Notification No. 81/2023 dt. March 22, 2024, the Central Government permits export of additional 10,000 MT of onions (under HS code 0703 10 19) to UAE through National Cooperative Exports Limited ( NCEL ) over and above the quota notified vide DGFT Notification No. 65/2023 dated March 01, 2024.”

The effect of this notification is that exporters can now avail themselves of the opportunity to export an extra 10,000 MT of onions to the UAE through the NCEL, expanding their market reach and contributing to the enhancement of trade relations between India and the UAE.
