Export Policy – Central Govt amends Export Policy – Food Supplements Containing Botanicals – Food Supplements – taxscan

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide Trade Notice no. 24/2023 issued on 25th August 2023 has notified the amendment in the export policy of food supplements containing botanicals.

On July 31st, 2023, the Indian Government, through Notification No. 22/2023, officially communicated the subsequent policy stipulations pertaining to the export of Food Supplements containing botanicals categorized under ITC (HS) Codes 1302 and 2106, with the aim of their consumption by humans or animals, to both the European Union and the United Kingdom:

"The export of Food Supplements containing botanicals to European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) originating in or consigned from India and intended for human or animal consumption, allowed subject to issuance of the official certificate issued by Export Inspection Council (EIC)/ Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs), the designated Competent Authority for issuance of official certificate. The official certificate will be issued based on the satisfactory analytical test report from EIC'/EIC approved laboratories for the purpose as per the requirement laid down by EU."

Regarding this matter, it is clarified that certifications issued by SHEFEXIL prior to the issuance of the aforementioned Notification, specifically before July 31st, 2023, will remain valid and acknowledged even subsequent to the release of the notification.
