Centre Releases Provisional Accounts for FY 2024–25: Revenue at ₹30.78 Lakh Crore, Expenditure at ₹46.55 Lakh Crore
The Government of India’s provisional accounts for FY 2024–25 show total receipts of Rs. 30.78 lakh crore and total expenditure of Rs. 46.55 lakh crore, closely aligning with revised estimates

The Ministry of Finance released the provisional and unaudited accounts of the Government of India for the Financial Year 2024–25 on May 30, 2025. The figures reflect the government’s fiscal operations till March 31, 2025, and highlight both receipts and expenditures against the revised estimates (RE) for the year.
According to the data, the Government of India received Rs. 30,78,247 crore, which constitutes 97.8% of the Revised Estimates for total receipts. This includes:

- Tax Revenue (Net to Centre): Rs. 24,98,885 crore
- Non-Tax Revenue: Rs. 5,37,544 crore
- Non-Debt Capital Receipts: Rs. 41,818 crore
- Recovery of Loans: Rs. 24,616 crore
- Miscellaneous Capital Receipts: Rs. 17,202 crore

In a notable increase, the devolution of share of taxes to State Governments stood at Rs. 12,86,885 crore, which is Rs. 1,57,391 crore higher than last year.

On the expenditure side, the total spending stood at Rs. 46,55,517 crore, or 98.7% of the RE 2024–25, comprising:
- Revenue Expenditure: Rs. 36,03,510 crore
- Interest Payments: Rs. 11,16,343 crore
- Major Subsidies: Rs. 3,88,036 crore
- Capital Expenditure: Rs. 10,52,007 crore
These provisional figures indicate that the Union Government maintained close alignment with its budgetary targets for FY 2024–25, reflecting fiscal discipline and continuity in developmental and welfare spending. The final audited figures will be released after scrutiny by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
