The Customs, Excise, Service Taxes Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) has directed the filing of E-Hearing applications for earlier disposal of high revenue stake cases.
The Board from time to time has issued instructions to all the field formations for filing of early hearing applications before the Supreme Court, High Court, and CESTAT in high revenue stake cases including close monitoring of the same as per information available with this office approximately 148 such early hearing applications (including both Departmental as well as party’s appeals) have been filed by the Department before CESTAT so far It is felt that E-Hearing applications should be filed by the Department in all these 148 cases where an application for early hearing has been filed.
However it is observed that E-Hearing applications have been filed in only 10 cases so far.
Hence, the letter requested the jurisdictional Principal Chief Commissioner or Chief Commissioners to impress upon their field formations to file E- Hearing application in deserving cases (both Departmental & party’s appeals) urgently for early disposal of the same.
“Copies of such E-Hearing applications may also be sent to the local CC(AR) office and any difficulties faced in this regard may also be communicated to them. A list of email addresses of all 9 CC(AR) offices in the country is enclosed for information,” the Chief Commissioner, Satish Kumar Agarwal wrote.
