CJI Constitutes 3-Member Committee for Inquiry Against Justice Yashwant Varma

The Chief Justice of India has constituted a 3-member committee to conduct an inquiry into the allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma, Sitting  Judge of the Delhi High Court, as part of the in-house procedure.

The Committee’s members are Justice Sheel Nagu, the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court; Justice GS Sandhawalia, the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court; and Justice Anu Sivaraman, a judge in the Karnataka High Court.

Following a preliminary investigation into the claims of finding undeclared cash from Justice Varma’s official house, Chief Justice DK Upadhyay of the Delhi High Court presented a report to Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna.

Additionally, a plan to move Justice Varma to the Allahabad High Court—his parent High Court—is being considered by the Supreme Court Collegium.
