Commerce and Industry Ministry Reconstitutes Export Inspection Council, Nominates New Members [Read Notification]

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reconstituted the Export Inspection Council (EIC) and nominated new members for a two-year term, as announced through  notification S.O. 1982(E) dated May 1, 2025.

Acting under the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963 and Rule 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Rules, 1964, the Central Government has restructured the council to strengthen India’s export quality standards.

The reconstituted body will be chaired by Rajesh Agrawal, IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Commerce, alongside senior officials such as the Director of Inspection and Quality Control (EIC), the Director General of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the Agriculture Marketing Adviser, and the Director General of the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).

In addition, representatives from key export bodies, including APEDA, MPEDA, the Spices Board, the National Dairy Research Institute, and various industry nominees, have been inducted.
