The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued Notification No. S.O. 968(E), dated February 25, 2025, announcing the appointment of three Members of Parliament (MPs) to the Tobacco Board under Section 4 of the Tobacco Board Act, 1975.
New Appointments:
As per the notification, the following MPs have been appointed as members of the Tobacco Board:
- Thiru D M Kathir Anand – MP (Lok Sabha), Elected by Lok Sabha
- Shri Putta Mahesh Kumar – MP (Lok Sabha), Elected by Lok Sabha
- Dr. K. Laxman – MP (Rajya Sabha), Elected by Rajya Sabha
These appointments replace the previous members listed under Serial Numbers 2, 3, and 4 of the earlier notification S.O. 5417, dated December 17, 1975.

Term & Conditions:
The notification specifies that the term of office for the appointed members will be three years from the date of publication in the Official Gazette or until they cease to be Members of Parliament, whichever occurs first.
This amendment follows the last update made through Notification No. S.O. 5348(E), dated December 15, 2023, ensuring continued governance in the Tobacco Board, which oversees the development and regulation of the tobacco industry in India.
