Both the travelers and the confiscated wildlife were taken into custody right away by authorities for additional examination. In addition to breaking India's laws protecting wildlife, the smuggling of exotic species is a serious danger to the biodiversity of the nation.
IGI Airport's customs officers are constantly on guard to stop the illegal wildlife trade, which has become a bigger issue in recent years. Exotic animal smuggling frequently has detrimental effects on biodiversity and puts human health at risk since it can spread zoonotic illnesses.
Before being rehabilitated or returned to their native environments, the confiscated animals will undergo examinations by wildlife specialists. The Wildlife Protection Act and other pertinent regulations are expected to impose severe fines on the smugglers, who are currently facing legal action.
Customs officials reaffirmed their dedication to stopping wildlife trafficking and asked visitors to abstain from unlawful actions that jeopardize biodiversity around the world.
