The Vivad se Vishwas Scheme, 2024, is a continuation of the government's efforts to reduce tax litigation and unlock revenue held up in appeals and arbitration. It offers a one-time settlement window, allowing taxpayers to clear their disputes by paying the due tax and receiving a waiver of interest and penalties, depending on the nature and stage of the dispute.

Eligible declarants include those with pending appeals, writ petitions, SLPs, and arbitration cases as of the cut-off date. The scheme is designed to streamline tax resolution and reduce the burden on judicial and quasi-judicial authorities, while offering taxpayers an easy and transparent exit from litigation.
