In order to prevent tax evasion, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be using drones to inspect properties in industrial areas from the air for tax assessment. It’s a sensible move to implement technology in a reasonable approach. The MCD has innovated by using unmanned vehicles to assess taxes in the most effective manner.

To execute a drone-based survey through a company with the aim of determining taxes, the MCD has issued an invitation for bids. March 16 is the last day to submit a bid. The MCD will be using drones to survey properties in the city’s industrial sectors for the first time in this survey.

This will help verify details submitted by residents of their properties while paying tax, stated the official.

According to the source, a study would be conducted for around 30,000 properties situated in industrial districts. Further, the project’s cost would not be more than Rs 3 crore, excluding all taxes and statutory obligations, and the chosen firm will have six months to complete the study.

Since a pilot operation last year was a success, it decided to deploy drones. According to the MCD official involved in the initiative, a survey was conducted in the Mohan Cooperative Industrial Area on Mathura Road last year on a pilot basis. It was a successful operation.

The survey will assist in confirming the precise usage of properties, the identities of the residents, the space covered, and the number of floors. This will assist in determining whether the terrace has undergone any construction.
