The Delhi Government on Wednesday has issued the guidelines for time bound disposal of objections filed under the Value Added Tax (VAT).

In order to ensure time bound disposal of the objections under Delhi Value Added Tax Act (DVAT) the Government addressed all the Objection Hearing Authorities.

The Additional Commissioner, Anand Kumar Tiwari directed all the  Objection Hearing Authorities to fix timings of hearing and issue cause lists, decide and widely publicize the Objection hearing timings by 12 August, 2021. A copy of the same may also be forwarded to the Commissioner, VAT for information, copies of the Orders passed by the OHAS may also be marked to the Commissioner, VAT, and fortnightly report may be submitted to Ms. Sonalika Jiwani, Joint Commissioner (T&T) on or before the 3 and 18th of every month, who would submit a compiled report to the Commissioner, VAT on the next date.

A value-added tax (VAT) is a consumption tax placed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain, from production to the point of sale. The amount of VAT that the user pays is on the cost of the product, less any of the costs of materials used in the product that have already been taxed.
