The Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ) recently issued Notification No. 67/2023 on March 6, 2024, authorising the export of onions ( under HS code 0703 10 19 ) to Bhutan, Bahrain, and Mauritius through the National Cooperative Exports Limited ( NCEL ).
In accordance with the powers conferred by Section 3 read with section 5 of the Foreign Trade ( Development & Regulation ) Act, 1992, and relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the Central Government has permitted the export of onions to these countries.
The authorization for onion exports is granted under Para 3 of Notification No. 49/2023 dated December 7, 2023. This notification specifies the conditions and procedures for exporting onions through NCEL.
This notification opens up opportunities for onion exporters to expand their market reach to Bhutan, Bahrain, and Mauritius. The involvement of NCEL streamlines the export process and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
