The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has implemented measures to oversee the export of unworked human hair, as outlined in Notification No. 51/2015-2020 issued on January 25, 2022.
Accordingly, exporters must utilise DGFT’s ECOM system to submit online applications for export authorization between February 16 and February 29, 2024, for the fiscal year 2024-25. Notably, the export of unworked human hair is now governed by a Minimum Export Price (MEP) of USD 55000/MT.
The Notification No. 51/2015-2020, issued on January 25, 2022, amended the export policy of unworked human hair, categorizing it as ‘Restricted’ under S.No.38 B, HS Code 0501, Chapter 05 of Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy, from its previous classification as ‘Free’.
It is important to note that the DGFT retains the right to determine or modify the modalities of distribution and allocation based on the applications received. Additionally, applications that are incomplete, received via email or post, or submitted after the specified deadline will not be considered.
To streamline the issuance of export authorizations for human hair during the fiscal year 2024-25, subject to the Minimum Export Price (MEP) of USD 55000/MT, the following procedure for applying for export authorization has been established:
