The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued Notification No. 51/2023 dated December 08, 2023, announcing an extension of the export prohibition on De-Oiled Rice Bran until March 31, 2024.
In accordance with the powers vested in it by Section 3, along with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992), as amended, and considering Para 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the Central Government has made a slight modification to Notification No. 21/2023 dated July 28, 2023.
This modification is reflected in Chapter 23 of Schedule-2 of the ITC HS export policy, specifically related to the export policy of De-Oiled Rice Bran under HS code 2306.
The amendment reads as follows:
Sl. No. | ITC HS code | Description | Present Policy | Policy Condition |
94A | 2306 | OIL-CAKE AND OTHER SOLID RESIDUES, WHETHER OR NOT GROUND OR IN THE FORM OF PELLETS, RESULTING FROM THE EXTRACTION OF VEGETABLE OR MICROBIAL FATS OR OILS, OTHER THAN THOSE OF HEADING 2304 OR 2305 | Free | However, export of De-Oiled Rice Bran under ITC HS code 2306 and under any other HS code is prohibited till March 31, 2024. |
The key implication of this notification is the extension of the export prohibition on De-Oiled Rice Bran until March 31, 2024. Exporters are reminded that the export of De-Oiled Rice Bran under ITC HS code 2306 and any other relevant HS code is strictly prohibited during this period.
This move aligns with the government’s commitment to regulating the export of certain commodities for strategic and policy reasons. Stakeholders in the industry are urged to take note of this development and adjust their export plans accordingly to comply with the extended restriction.
