The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued Trade Notice No. 34/2024 dated 20th March 2025, announcing the initiation of a review process for the Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) related to automobile tyres. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued Trade Notice No. 34/2024 dated 20th March 2025, announcing the initiation of a review process for the Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) related to automobile tyres.

The notice states that SION entries A-1722, A-1717, A-1667, A-1666, A-1673, A-1665, A-1664, and A-1663 are being re-examined to ensure their relevance and accuracy in the context of evolving manufacturing processes and industry practices.

To process this review, the DGFT has invited exporters, Export Promotion Councils (EPCs), commodity boards, and other stakeholders who are currently availing these SIONs to submit their feedback. Stakeholders have been asked to critically examine the existing norms and provide suggestions for modification, if any.

Submissions must include:

  • A clear justification for the proposed changes
  • Production and consumption data
  • Wastage norms, certified by a Chartered Engineer
  • Any other relevant documents to support the request

The DGFT has set a 45-day deadline for receiving these suggestions. All responses must be sent via email to nc7.dgft@gov.in by May 4, 2025, for further examination.
